The One About My Craft Room...

Did I ever mention I was creating a craft room at home?
I'm not sure I did on this blog...

Well, since the beginning of summer I have been working
on this new space for myself.

Wanna see?

Come on in...
Let me first say that I didn't "style" this room for these photos, I merely just cleaned up.  They may not be the prettiest photos, but they are at least real photos.
I love the vintage sign on the door, it was purchased at Tattered Tiques, a vintage shop near where I live.
All of the furniture and button print rug came from IKEA:  cheap and easy!
It's a very small room, in fact, it used to be Maggie's (my daughter) nursery.  She is now in a bigger bedroom.  I kept the walls painted as they were,
but made the window valance.
A gigantic rack holds supplies and fabric.  You'll notice there are weird built-in rectangular "boxes" on the floor along the walls on this side of the room (the house came that way)...luckily this rack was a perfect fit in there.  Even though I don't think it's the most charming piece, it is functional.
I keep lots of vintage linens in the suitcases for sewing/crafting projects.
The oilcloth scallop trim gives the big ol' rack a bit of personality.
Fabric hoops are always easy and cute wall decor!
{okay, this is a bad pic...sorry!}
Above is a blank wall I have yet to figure out what to put on it.  Suggestions welcomed!  There's the other weird boxy thing, only this one does serve a purpose I think, as the staircase is on the other side/underneath it.  Currently it's acting as my sad ironing station.  I'm going to get a drop down ironing board to hang on the closet door which is to the right of that wall.  At least that's the plan!

I hung up a peg board above the work desk and I love it!
{my flower head buddies}

I work on crafty goodies for my shop and also decor/fun stuff for around the house in the new craft room, like this scrap garland from the lovely, packed full of easy and cute projects, book:
The book was written by "Tinkerer" Elyse Major, writer of one of my favorite craft and decor blogs, Tinkered Treasures, and has just the sweetest projects in it to try, accompanied by pretty photos, easy step-by-step directions, and charming illustrations.  There are so many pretty crafts in the book I want to do!
Once I get all my scrappy pieces together (I've got a good pile so far), I'm going to tie them on some pretty ribbon or jute cord and hang it in my craft room or in Maggie's room.  I have so many scraps from sewing (lord knows I save them all it seems) and this is such a cute way to use them up.

I feel so happy, lucky, and grateful to have a space all my own for
creating and running my little business!
I was in the dungeon basement before,
and I just love being upstairs with the natural light.

We don't have endless bedrooms to create rooms of our choosing, just 3, and a guest bedroom was sacrificed to have a craft room at my house.  Even if you don't have a room to devote to a creative space, you could always do a craft closet, a little corner nook, or hey, the dining/kitchen table always works too!

Hope you enjoyed the little tour!

XO,
Stacey

Hi Stacey,

Love the colors you chose and that cute polka dot curtain looks perfect. If I didn't have a vintage teacher's chair, I would get that pink one!

Hugs, Lynnie

Love your creative space! So much charm. I passed up a pink sewing box yesterday. It was like the one I saw in one of your photos. They wanted $24 and one of the sides was a bit crushed. Thought it was a little high for the condition. Now I'm wondering if I should have gotten it. We just finished my craft room. Still trying to make it more cozy.
hugs,
Jann

I've just started working on a craft room as well! my son has moved out & his room is becoming mine. The first thing I'm doing is refinishing a dresser for him & his fiance. Then I'll focus more on making the room mine. I'm saving some of your ideas - love them!

Fabulous! I am not a crafter, but if I was I would want one just like this- perfect colors (I love red!) and the rug is terrific!!!!

Oh Stacey, I've been waiting for this! I think I must say that my craft room wants to be your craft room when it grows up! :)

I adore your button rug, the color pallet and the mix of old and new.

The oil cloth scallops work perfectly on your shelves and that rag ball garland isn't too bad either. ;)

Thanks for posting! ♥

This room is just adorable! I loooove the sign on the door, the vintage patterns, the chair, and I could go on and on. I moved my sewing room upstairs from the basement too, and it is just a joy to create where there is sunshine and a fresh breeze!

Stacey I LOVE your craft room! I found your blog via "The North End" blog and I'm so glad I did! I have 2 giant peg boards in my workroom and one is nearly empty - while I have no room for so many things that you have creatively hung up! Like those magazine racks! Wow, why didn't "I" think of that??? Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to follow your blog. Michelle / newengland-style.com
